Shooting_Range

The Shooting Range is an unlockable Hideout facility where you can test weapons and armor against targets in a no-loss environment. Progress and loot inside the range never leave the range — it's pure practice.

Unlock: Level 10.

Access

Access

The range entrance sits in the Hideout — An indicator light by the door shows whether the range is currently in use.

What's Inside

  • Weapon access — You can freely equip any weapon you own for trial firing.
  • Armor tests — Swap vests and helmets to see how they hold up against enemy fire and melee.
  • Stationary targets — Paper / silhouette targets at various distances for sighting in optics and testing recoil patterns.
  • Zombie targets — A cordoned zombie-target area with a two-way barrier so you can practice live target drills against Walkers/Runners without real risk.
  • Auto-save on entry — Your Hideout state autosaves when you walk in, so exiting is safe.
  • Exit via title screen — Leave the range by going back to the title / main menu, which returns you to the Hideout cleanly.

Rules

  • No rewards — nothing you pick up inside the range is kept.
  • Infinite ammo at the bench — weapon functions work as in raids for test purposes; consumption is flagged and not counted on exit.
  • Durability — armor and gun durability changes inside the range do not persist (confirmed behavior; double-check after major patches).

Use Cases

  • Zeroing optics — dial in 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x scopes at a known distance.
  • Recoil patterns — compare vertical vs angular grips on specific weapons.
  • Loadout tryout — fire every weapon in your stash to decide your next raid's primary/secondary.
  • Silencer testing — see how silenced fire sounds at distance before committing to a stealth raid.
  • New-player training — test melee, throwables, and movement in a zero-stakes setting.

Tips

  • Use the range before big Weapon Trader purchases — try a similar weapon first to avoid spending 300+ $ on a gun you dislike.
  • Two-way barrier on the zombie pen: zombies can hit you if you cross it. Stay on the firing side.
  • Keep a "range kit" of assorted weapons and attachments in your locker so you can swap quickly when testing.
